Everyday Lab Work Overview
Most everyday work begins in your AI Agent. Ask for the result you need in natural language, review the records or proposed change, and approve only the exact operation you intend.
The Culsma PAWS web and app remain available when you prefer direct visual control or need to work with physical laboratory items.
How this manual shows different ways of working
Section titled “How this manual shows different ways of working”- Start in your AI Agent is the primary Culsma PAWS route.
- Optional: Do this in Web/App means the same goal can be completed directly without the AI Agent.
- Continue in Web/App means a visual or physical step, such as scanning or printing, belongs in the web or app workflow.
- Confirm in Web/App provides an independent check after the AI Agent completes a task.
Not every task has all four sections. This manual includes a Web/App route only when that route reaches the same result and has been verified in the current product.
Choose a task
Section titled “Choose a task”| What you want to do | Start here | How Web/App helps |
|---|---|---|
| Find a sample or its location | Find and Understand Samples | Confirm the matching sample and recorded location. |
| Count, compare, or summarize data available to an Analytics Project | Ask Questions About Project Data | Spot-check source records when an independent visual check is useful. |
| Correct sample information or tags | Update Samples and Tags | Edit a simple single record directly or verify an AI-committed change. |
| Add samples from a spreadsheet | Import Samples | Enter a small manual batch or inspect created samples after the import receipt. |
| Create or maintain freezers, racks, and freezer slots | Manage Freezers and Racks | Use the visual Freezer Editor and Rack Editor. |
| Work with boxes, sample positions, scanning, or labels | Manage Boxes, Samples, and Labels | Use the visual box layout, barcode scanning, and label printing. |
| Understand a proposed change | Review and Approve Changes | Confirm the resulting records after the change is complete. |
A typical AI-first workflow
Section titled “A typical AI-first workflow”- State the task and identify the intended workspace or project.
- Let the AI Agent find the relevant records or prepare a proposal.
- Resolve ambiguous matches and review warnings.
- Approve the exact preview only when a change is required.
- Confirm important saved or physical results in the Culsma PAWS web or app interface.
Read-only searches and audited questions do not need change-set approval. AI Agent updates, imports, and storage assignments must follow the preview and approval guidance described in Review and Approve Changes.
Web/App forms save directly and do not use the MCP change-set boundary. Use them when the manual describes a verified direct route and you can review the visible record yourself.
