Update Samples and Tags

Use this chapter when an existing sample record needs a supported correction or a tag change.

This is a write workflow. Your Culsma PAWS connection must include lab.write, and your workspace role must allow the change. The AI agent should prepare a preview before changing production data.

Workflow

  1. Identify the exact sample.
  2. Describe the intended update.
  3. Review the proposed change.
  4. Approve or cancel the current proposal.
  5. Verify the sample after the change is applied.

Example requests

Section titled “Example requests”

Add the existing tag Follow-up to sample PAWS-001. Show me the proposed change before applying it.

Change the note for sample PAWS-001 to “Second aliquot received”. Do not change any other field.

Remove the tag Ready for analysis from samples PAWS-011 and PAWS-012. Preview the complete change set first.

Supported updates include selected sample fields, custom properties, and tag assignments. If a field is not supported or a value is invalid for the project, the AI agent should explain the problem instead of substituting another value.

What to check in a preview

Section titled “What to check in a preview”
  • the sample identity;
  • every field or tag that will change;
  • the current value and proposed value;
  • records that will not be changed.

Approve only the exact preview currently shown. After approval, ask the AI agent to fetch the affected sample again and confirm the final values.
